How Deliveroo helps Peck Peck win new customers 

Peck Peck is the newest addition to family chain Sutton & Sons. Unlike the other restaurants serving traditional fish and chips, Peck Peck is a modern take on the classic chicken shop. Located in Hackney, London, Peck Peck’s devotion to out-of-the-ordinary fried chicken has attracted customers from all over town.

With a passion for Peck Peck’s premium product and an ambition to grow the business, Sal took over the restaurant’s operations in March 2021. We sat down with Sal to talk about the success of Peck Peck, how marketing on Deliveroo has helped reach new customers and the importance of food photography.

Making the most of Deliveroo’s marketing tools

A steady influx of new customers is crucial to neighbourhood businesses. While Peck Peck attracts local customers as well as regulars, being on Deliveroo meant reaching a new audience of customers that wouldn’t otherwise dine in. “We’ve been Deliveroo exclusive since the day we opened and it’s been great. We’re always looking for the next opportunity to attract new customers.”

Sal saw an opportunity to promote the business to new customers, and used Marketer Offers to target new customers: “We wanted to increase our orders from new customers, so we set up a 20% off promotion on Marketer. After that, we saw the split between new and existing customers shrink - we’ve got that faith in it.

The secret recipe for a mouthwatering menu that converts

Peck Peck identified their menu as a key way to drive new business. With a high menu completeness score, it’s no surprise so many customers view their menu and place an order. We asked Sal to share some of their top tips for selling on Deliveroo: “I can’t stress enough the importance of photography,” says Sal. “Having our food looking as good as it tastes. Customers taste with their eyes first.”  

Menu descriptions are equally important. With such high quality, locally sourced product, Sal’s advice is to add rich and colourful item descriptions to menus. “Using nice language and adjectives is part of this. And details about the food. We get our brioche buns delivered every morning fresh from the bakery. I include this in our menu because it’s part of our story, part of the Peck Peck experience.” 

Excited about the future, Sal and his team are soon opening their second branch.
