The businesses each customer sees when they open our app will be different, and will be specific to their location, time of day, and their individual tastes and preferences.

However, there are a number of important things that we also take into account, which you can work on to increase your chances of appearing more prominently in the Deliveroo app.

Offer the best customer experience, each and every time

70% of our restaurant orders go to restaurants a customer has ordered from before. Customers are clearly loyal to brands, and that comes from having the confidence they’ll have a great experience when they order from them. 

When choosing which brands to show to our customers, we take into account a brand’s customer rating, and so it pays to deliver superior service. You can do this by:

Making sure you don’t reject or cancel orders

Checking orders have the correct items in them

Using quality packaging so there are no unwanted spillages or damage to products

Keep your Deliveroo prices the same as your dine-in and in-store prices

85% of our customers said that value for money was important when they were deciding who to order from. One in three also said if they spotted a price mark-up between a restaurant’s dine-in and delivery menu, they wouldn’t proceed with their order. 

We’re committed to giving our customers the best possible experiences for the fairest prices, which is why we established our Value Programme. Restaurants that offer the best value to our customers through price parity between dine-in and delivery, as well as great service, receive the Deliveroo Choice badge and appear more prominently in our app.

More than 2,500 restaurants have improved their value score to either ‘good’ or ‘great’ - the highest tiers - and thanks to the greater visibility given to these, have increased traffic and sales, including from new customers

On Deliveroo, your menu is your storefront and your chance to show off your dishes and products in all their glory. 59% of our customers say menu quality is ‘very important’ when ordering from a restaurant, and so optimising yours will help increase traffic to your menu and more orders for your business. In turn, this will help boost your visibility in the app.

Partners with photography on their menu can boost overall orders by 25%, so we recommend uploading high quality photography to yours. We also offer partners a professional photoshoot to really stand out. Customers come to our app to order at all times of the day, from ordering breakfast and takeaways after night outs, to DIY emergencies and last-minute gifts. When customers browse our app, we display brands that are open and ready to take their orders. 

Expanding your opening hours will mean you’ll appear open to customers in the app, and in doing so, help you to reach new customers and increase orders.

Partners can boost their visibility by using Marketer Adverts, which is our cost-per-click advertising product. Ads appear as sponsored listings in multiple high visibility spots in the Deliveroo app and website, with partners who use Marketer Adverts typically seeing a 10% increase in menu views and a 40% increase in order volume. 

Similarly, partners that run customer promotions through Marketer Offers, such as buy one get one free, will also be given greater visibility in our app.

How to use Marketer Adverts to stand out

Customers want to see brands that can deliver their orders in the shortest time possible, which is why we display these brands higher up. While there are a few factors that can influence this, such as the distance to the customer’s house, partners can make sure they prepare orders as efficiently as possible. The quicker you’re able to prepare orders, the shorter the Estimated Order Duration, and the more chance a customer will order from you.
