In an increasingly crowded industry where food, grocery and retail customers are spoilt for choice, standing out from the competition can be challenging. On Deliveroo, you can boost your store’s visibility and get noticed by more customers by promoting your business with Marketer Adverts.


In this article you’ll learn what adverts are, the benefits of promoting your business on Deliveroo, the different types of ads you can run, and how to measure the impact of your campaign.

Marketer Adverts is Deliveroo’s own cost-per-click advertising service that brings your business in front of more customers by boosting its visibility on Deliveroo. When you use Marketer Adverts, your business will be promoted in high visibility spots on the Deliveroo app and get in front of customers ready to order from you.


Get more eyes on your menu: Ads get your menu seen by more customers, with a 40% increase in menu views.

Increase your order volume: Partners using Ads typically increase their order volume by 23%.

Win new customers: Partners using Ads typically see a 45% increase in orders from new customers.   

Make every penny count: Typically, Marketer ads generate a return of £8 for every £1 spent*

When you launch a new Advert campaign, you’ll choose your total budget and set your maximum cost for each menu view generated by ad (your bid). Paying more for each menu view will help to increase your Advert’s prominence, but bear in mind your budget might get used up faster if you choose this option.  If you reduce your cost-per-view, your Advert might not generate many menu views (if any). 

Ads appear as sponsored listings in multiple high visibility spots in the Deliveroo app or website. For maximum visibility, Marketer ads appear within the ‘Featured’,  ‘Offers’ and ‘Popular Brands’ sections of the app. Ads boost your brand’s position in restaurant results, on the Restaurants homepage. When customers are looking for a specific cuisine, sponsored ads show in a more prominent position. Some customers go straight to what they’re looking for using search, where sponsored ads are placed in top positions in the results page.


Which types of adverts can I choose from?

You can create Marketer Adverts campaigns tailored to your unique needs and marketing goals. Here are a few customisation options you can select when starting an advert:

A continuous campaign will automatically renew every week. With this option, you’ll set a weekly budget which will reset every new week until you choose to end the campaign.

A one-off ad will run for a period of time that you select, and until the campaign budget runs out. You’ll need to set your campaign’s start and end date.

A bid is the maximum price you’re willing to pay for each extra view on your menu. With automated bidding, you can let Deliveroo automatically set your bid amount to maximise the returns from your advertising budget. We'll ensure your ad is shown to customers likely to engage with your business, so you're making the most of your spend.

If you choose to set your own bid, that’s the maximum price you’ll pay for each click.  The higher your bid, the more likely you are to beat your competitor’s bid and appear in higher visibility spots. When you set your bid, we’ll show you how much other businesses are bidding on average in your area, so you can choose if you’d like to go higher.

3. Hourly, daily and audience-based bid boosts

Bid Boosts are a great way to customise your campaigns to drive demand when you need it the most. With Boosts, you can increase your bid on specific week days or at selected times during the day (like breakfast, lunch or dinner or late night). You can also boost your bid to target customer groups such as 

New Customers, who have never ordered from you

Lapsed Customers, who have ordered from you more than 56 days ago

Deliveroo Plus customers, who are subscribed to our Plus membership and order twice as more and more frequently

Deliveroo Student members, who can access exclusive discounts and benefits

You can use more than one boost at a time to target specific customer groups at specific times of day and days of the week. When boosts overlap, we add percentages together as long as the maximum combination falls under the maximum bid amount for that market. 

To launch a new advert campaign, head to Adverts in the Marketer section in Partner Hub: 

Click on ‘Create a new advert’ and select which sites you want to advertise

Choose if you want to run your advert continually or as a one-off, and set your weekly or maximum campaign budget and start and end date

Decide how much you want to pay for each menu view. Choose between automatic or manual bidding. 

If you’ve selected manual bidding, you’ll need to specify the maximum amount you wish to pay for each menu view.

With manual bidding you can also opt in for Hourly, Daily or Audience Bid Boosts

Measuring the performance of your campaigns

Whilst your advert is running, it’s key to keep logging in to the Adverts section in Hub to see how it’s performing, and monitor metrics such as 

Views: the number of customers who have clicked on your advert and viewed your menu or catalogue

Orders: the number of customers who have placed an order after clicking on your ad

Sales from advert: the total sales from customers who placed an order after 7 days from clicking your ad

New customers: the number of new customers who have placed an order within 7 days from clicking on your ad

Returning customers: how many of your existing customers have ordered from you after clicking on an ad

Return on advert: how much you’ve generated in sales for every £1.00 you invested in adverts

Conversion rate: the percentage of customers who placed an order after seeing your ad

Tips to maximise the performance of your ads

Here are some key strategies to consider to get the most out of your marketing campaign:

Pair your adverts with Offers: maximise the impact of your Marketer Ads by running an Offer in combination with your ads, to give your customers a little nudge to order from you. On average, running offers and ads simultaneously can increase your menu views by up to 70%!

Test and learn with a one-off campaign: if you’re new to Marketer Adverts, a one-off campaign can be a great place to experiment. Set time-length and budget, with the campaign lasting until either runs out.

Build awareness with a continuous campaign: use continuous adverts to get regular insightful data and consistent brand visibility so you’re always on your customer’s minds

Run multiple campaigns for multiple sites: Not all sites perform the same. It’s why you can set different budgets and bids for different locations, so you can truly cater to the needs of each site. 

Increase your bid: the higher you bid, the more likely you are to outbid competing businesses in the area and win the best advertising placement in app.

Improve your menu to increase your conversion: If you’re getting more views on your menu, but not as many new orders, you might want to optimise your menu and ensure it tickles your customers tastebuds with great photography
