How to Improve Prep Time Accuracy & Increase Orders | Deliveroo

Fast service matters. When your restaurant consistently prepares orders quickly and accurately, you’re more likely to appear higher in the Deliveroo app, attract more customers and grow your sales.

One of the best ways to improve delivery speed is simple: start preparing orders as soon as they appear on your tablet.

By preparing orders immediately after accepting them - and using the Order Ready feature correctly - you help us understand your true prep times, ensure Riders arrive on time and get food to customers faster.

Step-by-step: how to manage orders correctly & using the Order Ready button

Match Riders to your orders more efficiently

Lower prep times leads to more orders and a better customer experience.

As soon as you receive an order, you should begin preparing it immediately.

Waiting until the Rider arrives before starting preparation can cause:

Preparing orders straight away helps keep your operations running smoothly and improves performance over time.

Step-by-step: how to manage orders correctly

1. Use the “Order Ready” button correctly

Once the order is fully prepared, tap the Order Ready button on your Deliveroo tablet.

Your team can hand it to the Rider immediately

Using Order Ready accurately helps us better understand how long your kitchen actually takes to prepare food.

We combine this information with Rider wait-time data to continuously improve prep time estimates.

More accurate prep times can help increase sales on Deliveroo.

3. Place the order at the collection point

Hand it over as soon as the Rider arrives

Fast handovers help keep deliveries on time and improve the customer experience.

Why can’t I see the “Order Ready” feature?
If you use a Deliveroo tablet: please contact Deliveroo Support and one of our team will be happy to help.

If you’re an API-integrated partner: there are a couple of possible reasons:

You already mark orders as ready elsewhere:

If you already “bump” orders or mark them as ready through:

Please speak to your integration partner about connecting this to Deliveroo.

You don’t currently mark orders as ready:

In this case, you’ll need to use the Order Ready feature directly on the Deliveroo tablet.
